I hope this link works, I was looking on Craigslist because I was bored. ( That usually gets me into trouble), anyway I found this puppy on there. I called her today and she has this one left. 10 wks old 35 lbs female brindle. The rehoming fee is $500.00. She is close to me and I'm thinking about going out to see her (just to see) The mom is supposed to weigh 200 lbs. I'll let you know what I find. :)

Wow... that's totally against the CL rules... I honestly wouldn't trust or have any respect for someone SELLING dogs they bred on CL.

She said they are AKC registered but no mention of any type of testing of the momma before breeding. I may go look just because I'm curious.

If it's on craigslist it's not worth that "rehoming fee"... If she gives the puppy to you thats one thing but if you fall in love with that pup and buy it for $500 then you are supporting her back yard breeding business... They use the term "rehoming fee" to get around the rules of no selling dogs...

At the rescue we charge a $350 adoption fee and people always gripe about that even though the dog comes fixed, utd on shots and if it has heart worms it comes with a years supply of heartworm treatment(slow kill) plus it covers transportation of the dog/puppy and whatever medical car it needed.

Try to talk her into giving you the puppy.. Just don't support her bad breeding practices... Let her know that you will take the puppy if no one wants it after a few more weeks.

AKC registered doesn't mean much if they aren't doing the testing of the parents and breeding to the standard... We get papered dogs all the time and some don't meet standard at all and look like sausages on sticks.

This one came in as a 6week old puppy. Came with AKC papers. This dog has mental and physical problems and isn't that fat from being over fed. This is what comes off craigslist and the like. This dog has cost the rescue well over $5000 in medical care and has to be on a few different medications.

Well said!
You are not saving the puppy but supporting the BYB.
They will probably breed the bitch again in her next heat, a quick way to make a few bucks at the expense of their dog and the breed.
NOT buying pups from BYB's is the only way to stop the cycle.

I have to agree with everyone. I did ask if she planned another breeding and she said no because she didn't want to go
thru another emergency C-section. I really do want to go and see her puppy and talk to her. We will see.
