a few questions

Being new to the mastiff breed I have a few questions, wonder if they are Fila traits/behavior, mastiff in general or "just" Luke.

Luke is the most "Velcro" dog I ever had, he has to be in the same room, can get a little annoying, lol. He will not stay outside unless I'm out there with him.

He is single coated, no undercoat at all, know the EM has undercoat so is that from the Fila side? or...

He is very very vocal, if he want something he will bark and will not quit. Stubborn!

He uses his front legs like arms a lot, will pounce the cat and hold her with his "arms". The cat does not appreciate it! If we are playing with a toy and I tell him "drop it", he will, but will put his paw on it as soon as I reach for the toy.

He has very "long" wrists, the dewclaw and "thumb" are far apart.

He is developing a lot of loose skin from neck down to between the front legs. His butt is still higher then his shoulder.

Luke is still super friendly/social, didIMG2041.jpgIMG1994.jpg put him on the scale at work today, 116lbs at 7 1/2 months.

Depending on where you live the Fila will develop an undercoat... I live in NY and mine sure do develop it. It could just be that he is young and will develop one as he matures... 7.5mths old and 116lbs? what is he again?

Really? Oh, that's so weird. I never knew a dog that didn't normally have a double coat could develop one if necessary.

Luke is an EM/Fila. his dad was a large [160lbs] male with long ears and a "hound dog" head. Starting to think maybe his dad was "watered down" with something and throw that to Luke, hence the single coat, face marking [only pup out of 14 with white on the face], very friendly disposition . And that would be just fine with me since I was not looking for a Fila :).
