An update on Hector's training

Oh I love me some Hector!!! Fila's look so squishy & loveable...but I bet I would get my face chomped off!

Why thanks! Yes, he almost attacked my bf's brother in our house and I blame my bf for not making sure he knew where we were.

Love his recall, and he looks sooooo happy doing it!

Thanks! You can see he was getting worried because he thought I was leaving him. He really likes recall and leave its. I can't even whistle to the birds without him making a presence lol.

Most of the time when we walk, he is free to do what he wants. I usually don't say much because he understands leash pressure very well. I haven't been using much food lately, but sometimes it's fun to carry bits of hot dog around lol.

We have been working on attentiveness for a long time now and I think he is excelling at it. I think he listens to my footsteps.

First clip at 1:50, man approaches and sits down about 10 ft away and you can hear him make a comment. It was a great time for a test or a disaster.

You've done excellent work with him; he's extremely well behaved!

What sort of behavioral disaster were you expecting at the 1.50 mark? (Trying to understand what to expect from a different breed. Our version of a disaster with a person is generally trying to rush them like your long lost, believed dead lover, climb into their lap and make up for 20 years of unresolved grief and longing with her tongue).

Thanks, Jazzy! It's stranger danger and filas are known to have an intense amount of stranger danger(but Hector has a different type of stranger danger - a nervous/anxious dog in general). This boy used to be totally freaked out by people at a young age - 5-6 months. A man was walking up the steps towards our direction. Normally I would call him away to avoid getting too close, but since he was calm I let him look. I was ready to lock the flexi and pull him away and I did lock the flexi in case he didn't listen.

Yeah, a lot of ppl are attracted to how nice he looks and wants to pet him. Everyone has been respectful when I tell them that he's not nice lol. So what do they do? Stare at him and he growls at them to back up my point lol.

Great videos! And good boy Hector for making good choices! I don't think I'm even coordinated to video and walk Rhaegar at the same time, lol.

Clearly I'm not going to win any prizes for Mastiff identification. I didn't realize he was a Fila.

I can empathize with the nervous dog part - only mine is afraid of sounds...and her own shadow.
