Another dreaded allergy question.

AB- did you find anything that works?

Calendula is pretty mild. You can make an infusion (tea) but let the flowers steep in the hot liquid for a longer period of time to make it stronger. I'm not sure how it would work for severe allergies, but calendula is one of the safest herbal remedies around so it shouldn't hurt anything. Okay - adding a caveat. Don't leave the flowers in the tea. If you leave them in then things can grow. Steep for a period of time and then remove them. Store the tea in the fridge and use within a couple of days. Any time you add water to something it turns into bug food. My preferred method is to make an oil infusion. Here's a link on how to do that.

You can then use this oil to make your own salve if you want. As long as you don't introduce water, or water won't be introduced, you don't need a preservative.

Awesome! I will be making this for the family. Thank you:)

Kind of! We didn't have the tea like I thought. We did have some Calandula liquid extract. CeCe had recommended mixing that with water and salt. It seems to help and it is pretty cheap. I think that I'm seeing a pattern with Justice. Thursday seems to be his worse day. It is the day that our grass is the highest. We get it mowed on Fridays. I'm going to spray him down Thursday morning and see if that helps. Calandula tea or the extract is definitely worth a try.

I'm happy to hear you are noticing a pattern and have found a good relief for him. You have given me some insight on what to look for with Sonny!

Brodie has always had a rough March/April as she has seasonal allergies and this year just got crazy-scatching herself raw. I tried to stop it with early Zyrtec, coconut oil, increasing salmon oil etc but she got a skin infection and had to get on antibiotics. Cleared that up but she was put on a rx med that really helps(Adequel???) starting at once daily then reducing the frequency as she improves -now just twice weekly and hopefully as the pollen dies down, so will the expensive med!

So I know this is an older thread but I thought I'd share what we are doing for Sonny.
None of the normal allergy meds worked and he was on the max dose for Hydroxyzine HCL(this one worked the best). I decided to try golden paste. I was using it for Chica and Ava already. I am noticing a difference. I have now taken him off his hydroxyzine and his itching is less than when on it. I still plan to make a calendula spray but lately everyday seems to fly by and only a few things on the list have gotten done. Lol

I hope Justice is itch free and Jake's testing went well!
