Hello, Everyone! Allow me to introduce Doofie - short for Doofus. We adopted him 8 days ago - a foster failure Yet to be officially named, and looking for suggestions! We can't call him Doofus forever
He's a 6 month old French Mastiff x Red Nose Pitt and a complete goofball. We don't know if he is a 50/50 mix or more 75/25 - but physically he is mastiff dominant. The pic doesn't show his size. he's already 70lbs and bigger/taller than our 6yr old pitt/boxer. Personality wise, he's like an ultra stubborn pushy pitbull when he's energetic and excited, and a laid back mastiff when he's tired and relaxed. It's interesting to see such clear breed-specific behavior patterns in our boy.
We had an EM that passed away in 2008 at the age of 9.5 yrs old, and he was a perfect wonderful angel. (RIP Zeus) So laid back and gentle! This guy is WAY more stubborn and pushy always testing boundaries and leadership. He has excellent guarding instincts - even more so than my EM.
I'm curious as to the differences between the French Mastiff and the English especially temperament wise. Our EM was the perfect first dog, but this guy would be a disaster in an uneducated house.
