Hi,

I wanted to take time to introduce myself since I just found this Forum a few minutes ago. My name is Sharon. I currently own two Boerboels and some horses on my small farm in SW Pennsylvania. I have a brindle female Boerboel that is 3 years old, and a red male Boerboel that just turned 2. I am not a breeder. Previous to the Boerboels, I owned Bandogs, American Bulldogs, Filas and tons of other power breeds. I try to help out with Boerboel Rescue as often as I can.

Sadly, Boerboels are very popular right now and there are a ton of backyard breeders and puppy mills that are trying to get in on the action ($$). I know just about everyone in the Boerboel world, so if anyone is considering buying a Boerboel puppy, please feel free to get in touch with me. It is nearly impossible to be truthful about a bloodline or breeder on a public message board without getting sued, but I can relay information via private e-mail. In my opinion, there are only 3 or 4 breeders in the US that are conscientious and are trying to breed good healthy dogs with stable temperaments. In contrast, there are hundreds of breeders that are breeding unhealthy dogs and hiding information about the health records of the breeding stock. Be careful. It's a jungle out there.

I apologize for the negativity and warning in my Introduction. I just feel it is important for anyone who is considering buying a Boerboel to know that the breed is inundated with breeders whose only goal is profit for their back pocket.

I love my two dogs. Both are healthy and well bred. I am doing advanced training with both of them, and they are great dogs. I have kept a blog about my dogs for the last 2 years, so if you are interested in seeing pictures and videos of Boerboels, please feel free to look at my blog below.

Welcome to the board and we look forward to you sharing your experiences and knowledge on the breed.

Sorry to hear about the mess with your breed as well. I can sympathize as the Cane Corso is in the same boat :(

Hi Shanon, welcome to the forum.
It is unfortunate that it happens with these breeds, the Cane Corso is in the same situation.
Flashy web pages and the flavor of the week. :(
But is what happens when the breed becomes popular and people think it will pay their mortgages.
I look forward to your input on the Boerboel, is one of the breeds I seriously considered before getting a Corso.
Your dogs are stunning, I really like your Jaf.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I attended a working dog seminar last year, and a man and his wife brought two very nice Corsos to the seminar. I think they got them in Florida.

Welcome! There is a similar problem in the UK with many of the molosser breeds being exploited and I feel abused by people who are only interested in the £. Your dog's, by the way, are stunners.
