Bug eyes

Just wonder if this looked right. I have noticed lately that Sadie (9 months old) always has bad bug eyes when she is looking at stuff. When she is just laying around her eyes look fine. Didn't know if I should worry about it or not. My other two don't do this but one is a DDB and the other is a 3 yr old EM. Wondering if anyone else has noticed this in their EM's. Thanks.

Is it just when she looks up? If so she might just have looser skin around her eyes that drops back when her face is lifted.

She can be looking straight ahead. It's only when she see something she is interested in like a cookie or ball. Stuff like that. Right now she is laying next to me on the couch and her eyes are normal.

I would say they look fine. I've looked at both pictures several times today & I just can't see anything wrong with it other than it just looks unusual. I would say if she ever seems bothered by it then I would check with the vet.

Just got back from the vet and they are thinking its allergies causing her eye problem. Anyone know an easy way to give eye drops to a 100 pound puppy that doesn't want eye drops?

I think she is about to go into heat. Don't know if that could have anything to do with it. This will be my first time with a dog in heat.

Her eyes looked ok to me in the pic where she is sitting in a chair. Re: eye drops. Good luck... I have no suggestions and hope I never have to give Titan eye drops.

Sorry but I am kind of snickering here because we had to give Mooshi some eye drops not that long ago and it was a challenge! She would sit really nicely, let us tilt her head back and then scrunch up her eyes really tight! Honestly my husband who is BIG lad had a hard time prying them open, so it took two of us. One on the top lid and one the bottom and then squeeze the drops in as fast as we could. We had about a 50% success rate so it usually took two attemps each time. Good luck with that. Oh and to give her a pill is just as much fun. You think its gone down only to find it a little while later half disolved on the floor because she had coughed it back up when you werent looking. Now we have to crush them on a teaspoon, mix them with jam or peanut butter and shove it in.

Back her into a corner so you can put your back to her and get her in a head lock. No force, just that position. It eliminates the ability to wiggle away. I had to give nasal spray or something silly to a 200lb newfie and that was the only position that worked. Good luck! :)

Has anyone heard of a 9 month old puppy having glaucoma? Took Sadie to a vet in lubbock for a second opinion and they ran a lot of tests on her. All of them came back negative but when the checked her eyes they said that the pressure in her eyes where high. Normal is 16 and one eye was 28 and the other was 22. They said they have never seen a dog this young with glaucoma. They gave use a prescription for eye drops to treat for glaucoma and have to take her back on Monday.

If you are still having issues giving eye drops you can try doing something I have taught Roly for competitive obedience. I put my hand under his chin and hold a handful of small treats in the other then put the hand with treats up to his nose then drop it to the floor. This causes him to press his chin into my hand, once he applys pressure I give him a treat. What hopefully happens if you teach her this is she would become focused on exerting pressure with he chin that she would allow you to give the drops. You would need to start teaching he with two people where one gets her to put her chin in their hand and treats her while the other does the drops but over time you possibly could do it by yourself. If you wanted you could even teach her to put her chin on an chair arm or something to make it easier to give drops by yourself. It would take time and patience to teach her but if you have to give her drops long term this might work better than wrestling her every time. I hope things work out for Sadie.
