Hello all, new to the forum... I have a 4 1/2 month old Cane Corso / English Mastiff cross.

The Vet today suggested that we start giving her "jobs" around the house. Any Suggestions?

hahahahahahahahaha @ shodanusmc and masteneo! Try hide and seek with treats and give her toys that she has to work for the treat, like a kong with treats or an ice block with treats frozen in the middle.

Hi and welcome to the board from NB. How old is your puppy now, I think your puppy must come from the litter I heard of I think back in July that was from around the Halifax area.

There are lots of games you can play around the house to help you bond with your dog. Hide and seek, fetch (but naming each toy so teaching them what each is), and obedience but as a game.

Were you also the couple that were looking for a play group to go to with your puppy? Is she in any obedience classes?

My dog's job is to make sure I take my daily walks, and get out of the house (I work at home).

Otherwise, her job is to "supervise" me at work. :)

Fetch is a great job, and the hide-and-seek game. If you need more advanced mental exercise, you can teach her the names of various toys, and then have her go get a specific toy. You could work up to having her get things like slippers and the paper, too. Our last dog was great at that - Denna's still working on plain ol' fetch.

I'm working Denna in obedience classes now so we can get her Good Canine Citizen certification. After that, if we're up for it, we might look into Animal Assisted Therapy. There are some neat programs around here that use dogs to help kids learn how to read. I think that would be rewarding for both of us - but that also would be a lot of work for both of us.
