So Greta got cherry eye within the first month of me getting her, it was in her left eye and no matter what i did nothing made it pop back in so in she went for surgery and had it removed. No ill effects whatsover, as if it never happened at all. When it happened i noted that it was when i had her on just a collar with leash versus a harness and i had read that when they pull it causes pressure and can pop out the gland. Afterwards I immediately got a harness for her and all has been well. Recently as she has gotten bigger and bigger her behavior on walks and such is usually very good but she does a hand tendency to pull when something excites her so i stopped using the harness and went back to a straight leather collar and leash (she minds so much better with it vs a harness) buuuut without fail i noticed immediately her right eye started having the tell tale signs of an impending cherry eye. I switched right back to the harness and so far so good, everything went back to normal but i fear this is only temporary. I was wondering if anyone else had any experience with this and anything they did to avoid it recurring if possible? When i saw it not only did i switch back to the harness i gave her a few eye drops and that seemed to help quite a bit but again, i fear temporary. If it happens it happens, not the biggest deal in the world but its still a pain that i'd like to avoid if i can. So, what ya'll think?
