First off, I'm no breeder nor do I plan on breeding, this is just my curious bug at it again.
I've read that when you are planning on breeding they test the compatility of the two dogs. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?? Features, size, temperament, health, etc? And what does it mean when the dogs are NOT compatible? Sorry if this is a dumb question.
Main reason I'm asking is cause we have friends with a little Pit bitch puppy that they plan on breeding. They know she is a little runty, and you can tell she's going to be small. Their plan is to breed her with a nice big pit and hope that it balances out the sizes. My first thought was "yay another byb making it up as they go ". Second thought was could that hurt their bitch? Is matching size important?
