So while waiting for my pup, I have severe puppy fever and decided to visit different Cane Corso breeder websites and look at puppies. Lol. Creepy? I know. :D
Anywhoo, while on a website ( I don't know if I can say which kennel it was, so I won't) there was a tab for pricing, so I click and I couldn't believe the very first line:

And I quote "Always willing to entertain all types of trades, especially dirtbikes, etc....." <----- What the hell?!?! Trading a pup for a dirtbike?? I wouldn't be shocked to see this on Craigslist, but an actual kennel website?!

Then another sentence confused me. It said "partial payment may be accepted under certain circumstances" Ok, what exactly does this mean? That if you can't afford the asking price, they are willing to accept a partial payment for the pup?

But wait, they aren't done yet...... "All prices are plus $250 if blue or blue brindle" really?

I guess Im just confused by this. Ive never seen any breeder ask to trade a dirtbike for a puppy or charge more for certain colors. I am new to the CC breed, so breeders....buyers....any input?
I hope posting this isn't against any forum rules, as I didn't name the kennel.

LOL! It happens on the time on kijiji up here... except it is usually for a snowmobile since we get lots here :) And people still believe that blue/blue brindle is rare so charge more for it and people will pay because they don't know better :( I wish it was less common but it doesn't surprise me that someone has a website like that now... Kijiji doesn't allow advertising of the Cane Corso so they have to come up with some creative ways of selling their pups around here.

Folks post links to for sale adds here all the time. So I'm sure your fine. I think bartering is awsome. Once apon a time that was better than money. If I was a breeder I would trade for a dirt bike if the value of the bike was worth more used than the pup. However..... If their trading you because they cant afford a pup, well then they cant afford to raise the pup.

My dreams to find an old widow with a barn full of mills, lather, drill presses and the like wanting to barter all that for a few yrs landscape maint.

I agree with chuck.

As I said, it would be different seeing it on a website for ads or such, like craigslist or kijiji, but this was an actual "kennel" page. Lol. Very unusual.

How "reputable" did the "kennel" page look? Some "kennels" are bad if not worse then your typical ad. :(

Hahahaha I didnt think of that. It looked alright. Had some dogs from bigger named kennels.

Damn... I think I have seen that sight.
Unfortunately it is way too easy to get a breed quality dog.
A few of the bigger named kennels produce a lot and will sell dogs with breeding rights far too easy.
Many of the so called breed quality are pets at best
But people pay the money, love their dog and people tell them it is good looking ( keep in mind these are not people knowledgable of the breed) so they decide to breed it.
Is sad but unfortunately there is nothing that can be done...

Yep just saw them, Kandie!! I was so appalled... Immediately I clicked out! It just made me think that they find their dogs to be more "property" than actual lives.

Forgot that I did see a "reputable" breeder I pulled off the breed club page saying they immediately charge $250 extra for blues & blue brindles!! It's a color, not wings...

I wouldn't have a problem with trading a pup for a high value item so long as the trader still met all stringent requirements. And by putting it out there its' probably an easier way to get it rather than asking every prospective buyer if they have such and such an item.

Charging extra for color....that's the indication to me they're in it for the bucks.
