ASFAD Rottweiler are maybe 1 inch shorter than a Doberman but they are about 40 lbs heavier. So no a Doberman is not bigger than a Rottweiler.

Rotties, definitely. I owned one about 17 years ago. His name was Brut. He was 80 pounds of pure muscle and he was incredibly loyal and sweet to his family. The only Dobie I've ever met was a little more of a marshmallow and slightly more high-strung.

I would call that the Rottweiler of Dobermans!
I've seen a dobe like that one when i was a kid.I can't properly remember who owned it.But its owner was a local man and he was very good man and his dogs temperment was very good.It wasn't a very aggressive and some people would pet it in front of it's owner. But when the dobe was alone it wouldn't allow anyone to go near it or it's terrotory.

Sorry for my bad english.

Rotts are more prone to cancers and Hip Dysplasia, hearing loss and sight problems. Dobermans can be prone to dementia and bloat.

Bailey's cousin dogs and playmates are an eight year old 110 pound Doberman and an 18 month old 80 lb Rottie. Both have health issues. A Internet search shows Doberman as the healthier by comparison. Bella the Rottie just had alc/acl? operation - huge cost - told to be prepared for other leg to go. You wouldn't know she'd been laid up four months ago. She is fiercely protective. Goes wild when anyone passes outside the 6 foot high fence. She's extremely protective of her family/pack. Don't touch my daughter in anger, you will loose an appendage, but sweet, loving funny good to my pup, but PLAYS ROUGH, bowls my baby head-over-heels every few minutes. Bailey our CC gives as good as she gets and Never Gives Up. No retreat, No surrender, even though she's less than half her size. The Rottie seems confused, and has taken to sitting on her to get a break from the play.
The Dobbie, he's rough, but he doesn't knock her over with his shoulder, he Punches with his Nose! more thoughtful, more strategic...less chasing, less mouthing, but somehow more intimidating, he's like a coiled snake.
The Dobbie guards whatever house he's in loudly and aggressively. He would kill to protect any of his human/pet pack (this includes the cat's and the guinea pigs), But behind all the teeth and snarls, you can see the intelligence, you can see the wheels turning.
In a dangerous situation I'd want both. One is a battle tank with crushing jaws, the other is a Ninja with a mouth full of razors. Together they are unstoppable. Bailey has two great teachers. She's a lucky pup.

My mother had a very muscular female Dobie named (Moonlighting with Rhapsody's Raven) aka Raven when I was a teenager. I owned a rottweiler(Mikkalyi Spangello Zorrba aka Rollie) that I adopted and bottle fed as a pup from Czech, I was living in Germany at the time. Both were pretty powerful and both had strong guardian personalities but I preferred my rotti. There was a distinct attitude from Raven which was kind of aloof, cocky and a bit frosty at times that I did not like, other times she was pretty friendly but never really affectionate. Rollie on the other hand was a big protective lover! Raven died at age 6, Rollie at age 17. Raven did not have any on going health issues, Rollie after a car accident had a hip replacement, dysplasia and arthritis. Rollie was professionally trained and reacted to my emotions and did his best to please me. Raven on the other hand was fearcely independent, it was clear that she understood what was asked but reacted the way she wanted. If I were given the choice between the breeds again I would choose the rotti but it would have to be a czec blood line, I am not as impressed with American nor German lines. My sister has two rotties, both are beautiful and overized but their personalilties are just different then what I've experienced. Jo ended up with Rotties after being around Rollie and falling in love with the big lug. Our family really misses him loads!

So true. Sadly Mr. Sid have become seriously ill this week. I'm going to lose his great spirit soon. There is a stillness in him, I am in tears.
