Dog Treat Made from Bull Penis May Pose Health Risks

Bully Sticks ;)

There's a "threat of bacteria" with anything thats either raw or pre-processed. Bully sticks are both. Wash your hands after handling them, its a fairly basic step.

LMAO!!! I didn't read the article, just chuckled at the title. Ruger had a bully stick this morning...Did I wash my damn hands?? YIKES! LOL By the way, he adores them but they have a life span of approx. 15 minutes. I bought them initially because they were supposed to last so long. Blah!!

Yea Vegas tries to bury those and the esophagus treats in the couch cushions.
But once she starts to work its a done deal in 5-10.

How much are they for you guys? Here we can pay anywhere from $14.99 - $19.99. for a treat that lasts 10 minutes or so, it's not worth it for me to buy them. Jovo works on them for a long time, but not Tess. Shes done in a flash.

My two dogs love those too! Damn dirty bull penis!! I have noticed my little Boston Terror is getting fat lately....must of been all those extra calories from bulley sticks. I wonder if those are causing some of the inconsistencies in their poops?

Some dogs do get diarrhea from them.

I pay 22.00 for three medium (length) ones. They aren't really worth the money but Ruger loves the damn things. LOL

At bestbullysticks.com, we buy the Jumbo 12 Inch for $4 each and the Monster 12 Inch for $5.50 each (or, if you buy in bulk you can get better prices). The Jumbo usually last my guys 20-30 minutes and the Monster will last about an hour.

This is the only thing the pet shop next door has a great price on. Three footers (yep, 36 inches long!) for $9.99. Pre-allergy, Mason would get one several times a week. I'd still be giving them if I could. They get exposed to much nastier stuff just going out on walks and grooming themselves.

Ya im talking about the 3 footers. Tess is done those too quick for it to be worth the expense.

I have always fed them too since they came out until recently we bought a different brand then we normally buy and they splintered all over which I thought was strange and then my boy got very sick and vomited for 24 hours so unfortunately I have to say I'm done with them...

This sort of "scientific" study gets touted all the time on slow news days by lazy or ignorant reporters. There are bacteria in everything. Lots. You really don't want to know what's in your hamburger. We, or dogs, get sick when the number or harmful bacteria exceeds the capacity of our immune systems to fight them, hopefully temporarily so we get better. In part our immune systems get stronger as we are exposed to more bacteria, so living in a plastic bubble is probably a bad idea.

That said, there are some pet food manufactures (also hamburger manufacturers) that use extremely low-quality ingredients. It's important to know the source of the food you get.

Of course it's a dried penis. Why would you feed your dog something when you don't even know what it is? What a horrible thing to do. My dog doesn't eat anything I won't. (Although she likes some things that I think taste really nasty and would only try again if I was starving.)

Please don't be offended if I don't feel "horrible" because you said so. My boy is healthy and happy, very much so. Also, it was a joke. "Reading" you, I understand how you missed that. Like we say here in the South "Bless your heart" :)
