Ok, here's the story.
The trainer works in a place that's 1.5 hours from me. Once we got Franklin in the car he was stressed and hot but soon settled down. When we got there we left him in the car while I met with Dan, got a tour around his facility, and met his dogs. He has at least 5 Corsos, 3 Presas, 1 Dane, 2 Neos and a BM, not to mention Akitas, a chow, and a few others. He loves each and every dog he has, even the "assholes". Lol He again explained that Franklin sees himself more as my husband than my dog, and that we need to teach him how to be just a dog again. The hardest part for me was putting him in the run. I had to do it since Franklin is fearful of men. It was a covered enclosure and I put him in it, gave him a hug, promised I would come back for him, then walked away. I forgot to give him his pink piggy, so I went back in. That was a mistake. He looked so confused. On a positive note, the more I talked to Dan, the better I felt. I think he knows what he's doing and in the long run, this will be good for Franklin. While he's there, he will be neutered and get his shots. I cried almost the entire trip there, so by the time I left him, it wasn't too bad. After his month, we will be sent to a behaviorist that will give me the rescue rate to continue to work with us to make sure we don't fall back into the same patterns.
The hardest part, by far, was walking in the door without him. His antler was laying on the bed and that made me sad. He doesn't understand what's happening to him, and I cant imagine how he must feel being locked in a run.
I can call everyday from 11-3 to get updates and they will even send me pictures of him. I can visit after two weeks.
I miss him so much.
