Hot weather exercise ideas

I need some ideas on how to drain energy out of Kryten. The only time of the day when he is comfortable outside is early morning before the sun has had a chance to start to raise the temperature. And only for a max of 30 minutes before he gets too warm. He normally has several play sessions through out the day. Now I know compared to some of you the temps we're dealing with aren't high (daytime- upper 80s nighttime- low 60s) but to Kryten it seems very warm. He is definitely bored and letting everyone in auditory distance know. The problem with walking when it is cooler is we end up getting swarmed by mosquitos despite liberally applying bug spray (different types) on all of us. We are having record setting mosquito levels following record rainfall in June.
Just as a reminder for anyone with ideas. Kryten is just about 2.5 years and has elbow dysplasia. This means anything involving jumping and/or quick turns needs to be avoided.
I thank you in advance from myself, Jiggers, & Kryten but most importantly the cats who are terrified of the giant, noisy pent up ball of energy masquerading as a mastiff.

Having the exact same issue here in Minnesota..only our temps are in the 90's today w/high humidity and of course we have the record level Mosquito battalion as well. ugh!

If I didn't have a litter right now, I'd take my youngest to Petsmart or Petco for walk, too hot for a lake visit, pretty much just putting them in the yard early morning and evening and they just loaf around the rest of the day.

The only thing I can think of would be
1- find a pool where he can swim, and it is easy on the joints
2- put him on a treadmill.

We have the same issue in MN, as Slinger-girl mentioned. Maybe a baby pool? We like to play "find it"..I hide a small treat, he trots around looking for it, then returns to me. While he's looking, I hide another one. Easy to do in the grass, then a dip in the pool to cool off. Windsor seems like Kryten, a delicate flower when it's <75*. Works inside too!

I got a 4' length of rope to play tug of war with Tyson. Thats something you can do inside.

OMG the 2L bottle thing is kind of awesome. I was giggling so hard. I am sure anyone even me could make it. Tomorrow I will see what scraps of wood I have .... lol.

The best hot weather exercise I can think of is just a plane Lawn Sprinkler . If my mastiff is anywhere near a hose , sprinkler , in-ground sprinkler , SOMEONE WITH A HOSE , he is on it . He will bark at it , lay in front of it , dig at it . I buy used ones at garage sales for a quarter it is last about 30 min . The in ground sprinklers cost way more . He will chase the stream of water coming out of a hose too . My mastiff loves being wet .

We have this problem in Vegas. Mostly they lay around all day then romp in the back for a little bit in the evening. The water idea sounds great but don't your dogs end up super smelly? Sadly wet/used to be wet dog smell is really hard for me to deal with. Ideas for that?
