We have a 3/4 neo (according to the genetic test), her name is Brunhilde. She is almost 10 months and she's simply fantastic. I have had dogs all my life, though this is my first mastiff. We have three children 9, 7 and 3. She is so wonderful with all of them. My middle child is socially shy and Brunhilde has proven to give her great confidence and helps her to calm down when emotions are high. I'd say our neo is becoming somewhat of a therapy dog for our family.
She is also protective which is great since my husband is gone late into the night. I will add it's important to make sure she shown she should not protect us, since she will be unstoppable if there is real danger, you have to be careful to make sure she doesn't think she HAS to protect otherwise she will become aggressive with anyone who enters the home.
The biggest draw back is her sensitivity to food and stress. She is very attached to her pack. She will not go for a walk without most, if not all, of the pack with her. I have to drive in my car away from the pack to get her to finally take a walk with just me. Loyal to a fault, I suppose.
I suspect Brunhilde will not be our last Mastiff, they truly are a wonderful breed!
