I am SOO sorry to hear of the losses of beloved family members you have shared. Hugs to all! I always burst into tears when I read these things. We know we are going to lose them some day, but -- at least speaking for myself -- I never seem to be prepared and it is always heartwrenching.
If I can ask a strange, but hopefully not too bizarre question, do any of you ever get 'signs' from your loved ones at Rainbow Bridge?
For instance....My Great Dane, Dylan, died in March as well, after a 2 1/2 year struggle with Degenerative Myelopathy. During this time, I formed an internet friendship with a GD forum member who also owned GDs but had Corgis who had suffered with DM. Her husband had died of cancer a year or two before. Anyway, she was frequently commenting that her husband left her signs -- both heart shapes and bright, brand new pennies. When Dylan died, she told me not to worry because her husband was taking care of him as well as her pups who had passed -- and that he would send signs. The next day I found a bright, shiny new penny in the spot where Dylan loved to sleep. Over the four months since then, I have found three other bright, shiny pennies, usually when I was depressed and missing Dylan.
