Is a Neo right for me?

Hello everyone! I am looking for a new puppy and I am trying to find the right dog for me and my small family. Its me and my wife, along with our 10 year old retriever. I love having a dog in the house, their love and devotion, but also the sense of security. Although my current dog will sleep through a home invasion lol, I want a dog that I know will help protect the family in a time of need. That being said I also do not want a mean dog. So I am looking for a loving guard dog, if that is even possible lol. A few months ago I came across this breed, and started reading. It seems like a amazing breed, so i though the best ones to ask questions would be you guys. Ive read things saying that they dont play well with other dogs, or children. I was wondering what your situations were and if this would be the dog for my family. Thx for your time guys!

Welcome aboard.

The temperament of the pup depends on the pup's breeding, training and care. As with all breeds, generally mastiffs tend to be great with children and accepting of other pups. Again, depends on the pup's breeding, training and care. Socialization is key to well-rounded pup.

We have a few Neo owners and hopefully they will post their personal experience.

Generally, all mastiff breeds are very stubborn and independent. They require training from day one which will last a lifetime. The mastiff can feel your emotions, therefore, when training them avoid becoming frustrated as they will feel it and shut down on you and stop listening. They can feel when you are anxious and afraid and will kick into guardian mode.
