Looking for top Cane Corso Breeders

Hi, I'm new to the forum and this question probably has been asked before. I want to know the top reputable cane Corso breeders. I don't care where they are located I would just like to start a breeding program as a hobby. I've bred american pitbulls for many years an would like to start breeding cane Corso dogs because they are beautiful but powerful at the same time. I fell in love with the breed in 2004 and would like to start a breeding program to hopefully produce some great Corsos. Please any information is helpful.

It is easy enough to find who the top dogs are, one of the breed clubs in the US just had their nationals where several different breeders were awarded. That being said, if you talk to others it was all bought and paid awards by the BOD. You are in for a great challenge, to get opinions on who the best breeders are. Even harder might be getting those breeders to part with stock that is breed worthy as most either keep or co-own those dogs.

IOW, it takes years of relationship building and proving yourself trustworthy for a dedicated fancier of any breed to believe you're worthy of being trusted with one or two of the nicest recently-produced pups in their program.

To get started in any breed at the highest levels will either take an enormous checkbook or patience and relationship building ... and possibly both.

Thanks for the response. Money is not a factor I just have to keep calling and talking to breeders. Getting into this breed does sound like a challenge but I'm up for it. It was easier when I was breeding pitbulls because it was a family hobby that was passed down for many years and my family's line was already established so all the grunt work was already done. I have a passion for dogs so I'm prepared to put in the work. Does any of you recommend any breeder or breeders?

Where are you located ? Are you willing to travel to meet breeders for a face to face ?

I'm currently located in Dallas, Texas. I'm willing to travel anywhere in the US to meet the breeders and pups in person. I rather see in person how the dogs behave, if the breeder is legit, if the breeder is doing it for money or the betterment of the breed, how well the dogs are taken cared of, etc. For me I'm old fashioned and would like to see the all around quality of the breeders program.

Phantom Cane Corso is in Texas I believe and has some nice dogs, but have never been there personally. Mine both come from Italica Cane Corso in NY and I have used studs from Firehorse. Liked the temperament and the fact that the dogs are comfortable around groups of people but are still CC when needed. Have been to Rivale kennels in NY and Carlos is awesome to talk to and has a vast knowledge but focuses on the working aspect of the breed. Liberty Cane Corso I have met dogs from and like them all as well, close in pedigree type to Italica Cane Corso. I have talked to many different breeders but have not met their dogs in person, so can't speak to what you are looking for outside of pictures.

RuRu is a pretty boy and certainly well deserving but I have a soft spot for Ligeia (Italica's We Didn't Start The Fire) and Italica's Fifty Shades I need to stop to take a peak at her in person.

I was searching around and I kept hearing about Roman Cane Corso. Everyone I have talked to said they are one of the best and have been around for a long time. Some of the referrals said Roman's dogs are pricey but I don't care just want to know if anyone has had any experience with the breeder and know his breeding program.

Not me, he has a male (perhaps a female as well) from my friends kennel, but have no personal history with him as a breeder. There was someone on here I think that had a pup from them so hopefully they are still here to give you a personal experience.

What makes Pirate's Den a great breeder? I cannot find any health tests on her stock in OFA database and cannot find any champions or titles in anything - sports, confirmation - nothing... I have seen a LOT of posts on FB about the kennel though...

she's posted some of their hip scores either on fb or her site, you could probably email her and get them if you can't find them.
