Mastiff Car?

Well Duke is getting bigger and bigger everyday and I will be car shopping soon and want to get a Mastiff friendly car/truck/van. I know I did want a truck but is it safe for him to ride in the back of a truck?

Any sugestions are helpful

Ours have ridden in the back of trucks but only in crates and with a cap over the box. We live in a cold location so isn't great when going some where in the winter so with the new addition of our baby we went with a new Mini-Van with Stow-and-go seating so we can have the seats up if we have people coming or down if we are putting a crate or 2 in.

We are going with a 3/4 truck, covered.
We have a mini van and honestly there is just not enough room, with our kids and dogs.
3 kids and 2 dogs + camping gear doesn't work, or even show gear to be honest. To fit benching set ups, floor mats, equipment and crates a truck is so much easier.
But I guess it depends on what you are using it for, where you are going. We like to get out with everyone and explore on a regular basis. Being close to the mountains 4X4 is good as well ;) , so we need more then point A to B. Plus we are huge fans of road trips!

Cody I am a big truck fan never thought about covered and I like to take my dogs everywhere with me. We also make lots of road trips...what to do...

I like the topper on a truck, plus can fit up to 6 people inside (at least in the trucks we are looking at).
Besides, when really cold (we are in Western Canada), the dogs will be inside with us, we can squish everyone in!

I have a crew cab my dogs are my crew. They always have their heads out the window. I have a bed cover to protect my tools so they own the back seat.

Well . . . . I haul my Fila around in a beat up little '85 BMW 318 ;) She fits just fine. I use a seat belt harness for her in the back seat most of the time.

There's enough room in the back of our Excursion for our Mastiff plus seating for 8 - although the mileage on the V-10 isn't too good. You can also remove the 3rd row for even more room if needed and still leave seating for 5.

LOL! My boyfriend would love to have one...that would have been his vehicle of choice for dog/kid transportation but I couldn't afford the fuel to drive it back and forth to work every day.

Lmao, when we picked up our girl in St Louis at the Cane Corso Nationals we drove our 08 Mustang. She was crammed in the back with our 5 year old son in his booster seat, for 3 days = 3400 km/ 2115 miles. She was 85+ lbs, so was a tight trip. :D
We looked at the Excursion/Suburban as well. The truck is easier with show gear, and well since dog number 3 isn't that far off... lol

We have a van, the boyfriend has his baby (F250 3/4 ton turbo diesel sooped up so and I quote "it is not for the dogs") and then his beater VW Golf for getting back and forth to work. The van has worked out great thus far when we have to crate the dogs. When we travel with all 4 for walks on the marsh we just let them loose and they just find a spot to chill.

We ride in an eclipse and fit just fine! I had a friend who was a BIG person and if she fit Hooch will fit when he is full grown. When we take the whole group we have a Tundra and we put the big dogs in the back in there cages or the backeseat when its just us. I want to put a top on the truck soon. Here is a picture of Hooch in the car.

Our guy fit in the back of our Outback. However, we are now looking at two new puppies and discussing what may be needed. We are thinking about a van with either the stow and go seats or taking seats out. Unlike many of you, we have no human children to worry about.
