Meet Bruce

Hi all, I got Bruce my Neapolitan Mastiff when he was 8 weeks old. Today he turns 9 months old, I did a lot of reading before getting him, including this forum which has been an invaluable resource over the last several months. So, I wanted to register on the site to show my support, and of course show off my pup!

While a lot of what I read on the Neo's warned people that a Neo should never ~ never ~ never be your first dog, I went ahead and got Bruce and I couldn't be happier with him. He's a very sweet, very smart pup who is growing up to be an incredible dog.

I originally wanted a blue Neo, and actually thought Bruce was blue when I went to see him. But after meeting this cute tawny Neo, color didn't matter so much.

Bruce (who remained unnamed for a few days) on his ride home. Nothing but a ball of fat! He was like carrying a bowl of Jello.

He clearly had a little trouble getting comfortable on the ride home...

Being a good puppy!

2nd day...and made his way onto the bed despite him never going to be allowed on the bed! Surely I'm not alone in this...

Just hanging out under the coffee table while he can still fit!

3 Months old and hanging outside.

He's always been convinced he's a lap dog.

31/2 months...Growth spurt.

Gizmo his "big" brother (about 2 weeks age difference) is the dominate pup between the two of them...So naturally he can walk Bruce on a leash.

4 Months.

To help get him socialized he started going to puppy day care early on. Since the dogs were on pea gravel quite a bit, new dogs were put in boots until their feet got use to it...despite having booties big enough for a full grown male Saint Bernard they had to order a bigger size for Bruce, and still couldn't find ones big enough for his front paws...I'm not sure he minded!

About 5 months old, hanging out on "his" loveseat.

A favorite pastime, stick chewing.

7 months...and outgrowing his love seat!

First time in the snow...Jowls flowing in the wind.

8 months and sometimes I look over and see this...Yes he will sit and watch TV.
IMG_0019_2.jpg

To which he looks over like "nothing to see here." (Although we've started learning not to get on the furniture, he's just getting too big!)

And at 9 months this is the view I normally wake up to.

Thanks for bearing with me, but I hope someone looking at getting one of these pups finds this thread and can see the growing stages...I know I appreciated threads like this when I was looking at getting a Neo, at some point you get tired of reading data and just want to see some puppy action!

Welcome! I agree, puppy action is awesome!!! I would have to disagree with everyone and say that my favorite picture is the one with the booties. The expression on his face is just priceless!

Beautiful boy you got there. I love all the pictures and his colour is beautiful. I love the blue colour but would get the tawny second to none.
