Found out yesterday, she has Parvo. Fortunately we caught it very early. God willing, she will make it through just fine. Keep her in your thoughts. She'll battle.

This is an email, i just received from my wife concerning GAIA:

"They called on Gaia and she is doing great. Basically, just be being borded until her diarrhea improves. She is off all IVs and meds it sounds like and holding food down. So see how she does today. We can go see her tonight and possibly take her home tomorrow"

Sweet!!!!

I was just wondering, what are the chances of reinfection after having parvo?

That is great! I am so happy she is doing well. I think it is hard to re-infect with Parvo on the same puppy, I think they build up an immunity to it but I might be wrong. If you are thinking of a new puppy then I would hold off for I think at least 6 months.

Brought GAIA home on Saturday!! She is doing awesome. A little thin, but we'll get her back to her old self.

Yay!! What GREAT news, Parvo is so scary. She can't get Parvo again, because she survived, her body now recognizes it and will kick its butt if it tries to infect her again. That doesn't mean you should stop vaccinating her though because most Parvo vaccinations also have Distemper, Adenovirus and Parainfluenza and they are all important! Mary with BalckShadowCaneCorso is right, you will have to keep young unvaccinated puppies out of your home and yard and everywhere else Gaia has been. The virus is carried in the stool and, as I am sure you know, is very VERY contagious. I have read some information that says Parvo can live even longer than 6 months outside of a host waiting to be picked up. It really is a scary bug. Can't wait to see big girl pictures of Miss Gaia!!
