Her food stayed down, then she went back and finished her breakfast - 2 cups. Her poop is still normal so hopefully this is the beginning of the end. I'm going to wait until tonight to feed her again.
I'm glad I found this thread. We have been dealing with the same issue for the past 4 months. We have been on the same grain-free, chicken-free food for the past 2 1/2 years (pacific stream TOTW). We add pumpkin to every meal and all of a sudden it seems the kibble isn't working for Brinks.
Last month, the vet had us bring the bag back and get a different bag and it seemed to work (he would eat the kibble again & stool firms up). I don't know if it's a bad batch that we keep getting or what.
I ,too, have been hesitant to change food since it's worked so well for 2 years. The bouts of diarrhea and bloody stool, as well as, vomiting occasionally and loss of appetite are darn right heartbreaking. Not to mention difficult to leave your baby when you have to leave for work (we end up having a sitter come twice during the day instead of once!).
We typically withhold food for 12-24 hrs, then put him on the rice and boiled meat diet for a few days. The vet also has me give him Pepcid AC when he has the bile vomit, add a probiotic for 7 days and Endosorb to slow the poo - that seems to help.
This week, however, I had a new bag of kibble & have been trying to slowly reintroduce the kibble and every time I do the poo gets loose again. So I guess I'm going to try another bag.
The vet says if it doesn't work, she wants to put him on science diet or a vet prescribed food,. I know a lot of people disagree with the vet recommended food, I happened to be one of them, but as everyone on here has mentioned -if it works for your dog - don't listen to everyone else. I plan to give it a try if a new bag doesn't do it this time.
Keep us posted on her progress and hang in there!
