Needing a new home immediately

We love our mastiff, but unfortunately we are not able to keep her. We need to find a new home for her ASAP...

Her story:
We purchased Sasha in early August from a family. We were told she is a pure English Mastiff who had turned 1 in June. After we brought her home, we noticed something was off. I took her to the vet who ages her closer to 2-3 (after living with her, she likes bones so we're guessing closer to 2). We also found out she was in an abusive situation, full of infections and very malnourished. She was terrified of males, but doesnt appear to have any problems with them now. When we took her to get spayed we discovered she had been heavily bred. Between the breeding and her nourishment she is a 'mini' mastiff. She is currently about 100 lbs, healthy, happy and as sweet as can be.

Sasha has been around my 1 and 10 year old and loves every min of it. We have received a lot of compliments on how sweet she is with other kids and our cats. She loves to cuddle and go on car rides. She is well trained. She knows sit, stay, how to walk as well as crate and house broken. The only time she is in the cage is when she puts herself in there to sleep or we are not home. (That's when her puppy chewing shows itself)

Finding a great home for her is extremely important and unfortunately I have to have her re homed ASAP. The reason is she is a guardian dog, and takes it to heart. She will attack any dog that growls at us and should be a good thing, but she attacked my brothers 4 mo old puppy the other day for play barking. Sasha is great with other dogs but I would want a home where she is an only dog so accidents don't happen like this again. I talked to the vet who said this is something that can be fixed with training but I am not able to do it. My kids and I love her but our family has too many animals for her to be this unpredictable. Please email me if you would be interested in her. destiny44202@yahoo.com We live in Dayton Ohio

Contact a mastiff rescue. Please do not take her to a shelter because they will kill her.

+1. Try Great Plains Mastiff Rescue & Southern States Mastiff Rescue. I know both are reliable rescues & even if they are based out of the southern part of the country they may have someone that can come pick the dog up or be able to get you in touch with a rescue closer to you.

Thanks racech! There is a mastiff rescue in MN or WI, do a search for them because I do not remember the name. :( Please keep us posted.

I have called 5 rescues and have not found one that is accepting more dogs. I can not emphasize enough how great of a dog she is. My kids love her I just can't take the chance of her getting more protective and someone getting hurt.

I actually tried to contact the original owners within 2 days of taking her home. Our vet had yet to receive her papers ect. When I called the number, it had been disconnected. The vet contact info she gave me was bogus and after visiting my vet and finding out her true condition I would have informed the attororities of the dog abuse that had occurred.

Have you tried contacting any of the rescues above? Great lakes rescue is in your area and could find your girl a good home.

Good point, Raech! Sasha, please do not give up on the pup. Sounds like she's been through a lot already in her life.

Hate to say it but as much as want to help mastiffs I want to do it for my own selfish reasons a little as well. I might get to meet more mastiffs and mastiff people!
