Just a thought, while the pup is with you and family. make sure you have calm assertive energy. this pup is cuing off of you. just my humble opinion. I feel from the writing you did that you are afraid, no duh there. and also that you are sad, also a no brainer. both make a dog go into protective mode. so while you search and wait for a rescue , relax and make sure situations are under your control, on your terms.

Sasha, hopefully you have been contacted by a mastiff resue by now. Please take a minute to keep us updated on the status.

Well Sasha, thanks for taking two minutes of your time to let us know what happened with your dog. I guess I shouldnt have expected different really since it only took me ten minutes on the phone to find a rescue that would accept her and that was obviously too time consuming as well...

Don’t get upset cway...you did what you did out of the goodness of your heart, that should be enough for you, to expect a thanks is human, to receive one sometimes is a miracle. Chalk it up to experience but one that you should do over and over again, it just makes you a better person. And who knows, maybe the OP hasn’t got anything to report yet. As they say here in the UK…there’s nowt as strange as folk

Absolutely!
on a side note who gets a mastiff and expects it not to guard? That's just insane.

I don't expect a thanks by any means, I would however think that a simple update wouldn't be too much to ask. I know for a fact that two mastiff rescues have emailed Sasha. It is aggravating that she supposedly could not find a rescue when in ten minutes of legwork I found two reputable mastiff rescues that were willing to take the dog, no questions asked. And yes, i would do it again in a second.

Mooshi, where ya been??

It seems that people are unwilling to work with rescues if they are expecting some kind of money for the dog. Not trying to pass judgement on the OP at all, but I've tried to help a couple mastiffs on CL by having the owner surrender to a rescue & once I ended up getting ripped a new one bc the owner INSISTED on making money on the dog. They didn't really care who took the dog, just whoever showed up with money in hand. I knew this bc they told me they didn't care who took the dog, all they cared about was recouping some of the cost of having the dog for 7 months. I just said ok whatever.

This is generally the case, I have went rounds with a few people in this situation. The way i see it if you fail a dog by not being able to keep your commitment the money should be the least of your concerns and IMO should surrender to a proper rescue with a donation to cover the cost of rehoming the dog you failed. At minimum surrender to a mastiff rescue but to try to recoup money on a dog that you failed shows what kind of a lowlife you are in my book. (not saying this is the case with OP)
