Hello my name is Kimmie and we just rescued a pitbull /dogue de bardoux mix puppy ! We named him Koda Bear !
He is now 5 and a half months old ! We are absolutely head over hills in love with him !
I have some questions, we have rescued and loved pitbulls , but never a mastiff mix ! So we are new to this breed! I was hoping to get some questions answered cause what my vet says and what some other people say are conflicting ! Can someone here help me out ? And I’ll make an informed decision ! Koda has an appointment to get fixed Tuesday , he will be 6 months old on the 29 th . Do I go ahead with this against my better judgement ? He does have a small umbilical hernia that they said could be fixed at the same time but told me I need this also done right away at the same time he gets fixed. When I inquired about him getting fixed too early because of future Koda issues they told me it was nonsense that he should be fixed right away and that I already delayed it from last month . That it’s better and easier for him and me to get it done right away . I want what’s best for Koda not me . Not easier for me . I was told by others and did some research we should wait til after a year or older because of growth and joint issues , is this true mastiff families ? Does it matter cause he’s mixed and not full bred ? Our other rescues were already fixed so I had no choice well now I do . Thanks so much for your time !
