Hi everyone, my 16 month Corso had cystine stones, which are more common in mastiff breeds and due to testosterone(99% of the time). Though they are a rare stone, just my luck.
I’ve done a surgery to remove them, he had about 15 small stones. If neutering is not done there is an extremely high chance of them coming back.
I am obviously going neuter him and it sucks because I wanted to keep him intact to possibly breed in the future.
Anyways my vet wants to do this ASAP, I’ve put him on a special diet that helps prevent stones from coming back for the time being. Since he’s only 16 months I really want to wait until 18 months to neuter him, I don’t want to do this and create other issues if doing so too early. If I were to neuter without having the issues I have I’d wait till 2 years to be safe.
What’s your opinions on neutering now at 16-17 months or waiting until he’s already 18. Id prefer to wait even until the 2 year mark, but I don’t want to take a big risk of the stones coming back and putting him through another surgery.
thank you.
