New DDB Owner

Hello everyone! What a great site this is. There is so much information on here. I have always owned dogs. I had shepphards and doxies growing up. I continued with doxies when I moved on my own. Then I got 2 labs. I thought I had found the perfect dog. Let's be honest, going from doxie to anything would have been an improvement. Labs are great. Recently I lost my 120 pound lab Hoss. He was a gentle giant who was 4 years old. Unfortunately he ate everything including trash. I felt like I needed another dog to help fill the void left. Hoss can not be replaced but I have so much love to give. In searching I found a DDB and our eyes met. We connected. His name is Tank. He was 12 weeks old when I brought him home. I have had him 2 weeks. He is such a delight. He listens to me when I tell him no. He already knows how to sit and it pretty much potty trained. He barks at anyone who comes in the bedroom at night. He is not a big cuddler. :( But he does not leave my side. I am really glad that I have found such a wonderful breed. I have added a picture of him from a week ago. Tank 1.jpg

Aw, what a sweet face! Henry isnt much of a cuddler either, only on his own terms. But you have only had him a few weeks, maybe he's still adjusting. Anyway he's a cutie and take lots of pictures because he will grow fast!

Welcome aboard~ Tank is a cutie potootie!

One bit of advice for a mastiff pup.

SOCIALIZE, SOCIALIZE AND SOCIALIZE SOME MORE

Socialize after they’ve had at least 2 round of shots preferably 3 rounds of shots to be safe. Prior to the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] or 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] round of shots, keep the pup in your own yard. If that is not possible, bring newspapers with you for the pup to walk on. Avoid dog parks and areas with heavy traffic of animals.

Welcome. He is gorgeous. They may not be cuddlers, but they love being in the same room as their humans.

Welcome :) Tank is quite the cutie...I bet you have a lot of pictures...*hint hint* ;)

And my boy Kujo is a "sometimes cuddler", if it's cold, he'll stay in bed with us for a while (still eventually becomes too hot for him), if it's hot he just wont get into bed at all cause he can't take the heat.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. Tank is a sweetie! I am taking lots of pics. I will post more soon. I have been getting him out and about already. He has had 2 rounds of shots and I have a few friends who have dogs. So we have been going around them. He does lay at my feet. He is currently 35 pounds. He has already put on 10 pounds since he came home!! Tanks paw.jpg I am being careful with how much I am feeding him. He is not chunky. This is Tank's paw! I have really big hands for a girl.

haha Not a cuddler. I had to laugh especially since you are a woman with a male ddb. Male ddb are notorious for being in love with their female owners. Just wait......soon you will find yourself sprinting to the br to go alone, and having a heavy breathing stalker follow you everywhere :) Kronos is so ridiculous he wants a hug from me before he will eat most of the time and won't eat usually unless I am in the room with him. He is so ridiculous at times I have told him no wonder you guys almost went extinct lol.

Despite the fact we're male, our two tend not to leave our side - watching TV, reading a book, making coffee, going to the toilet, having a shower ... there's always at least on of them within sight just in case we might need them (for what I don't know). Our male really prefers someone to the in the room when he's having dinner - ideally they are also eating. He keeps turning around to check to make sure I'm still there whilst he eats. He also likes to have a kiss on the head before he starts his dinner and then a big cuddle when he's finished. This cuddle is also the signal for his sister (who will have eaten her dinner in seconds and has been waiting patiently for him to finish) to check his bowl for anything he's missed.

LOL-- sounds just like my boy. He will wait patiently for his before and after meal kiss/cuddle...I thought he was an odd one. :)

Also, after his last walk of the night---Must. Have. Big. Cuddle.

Titan has not been a cuddler but he's starting to want to cuddle a little more each day. He's starting to follow me everywhere I go which is new as well. I believe we are finally starting to bond and his true DDB is coming out.

Last night while lying down, he came and laid down beside me and put his paw on my arm near my head and laid his head on his paw. That was a first!
