Hello everyone!! I am new to the forum...and I have to say we got our Pup when she was 9 weeks and is the BEST puppy I have ever had. She is now 14 weeks and weighs about 50 lbs. I have done sooo much research on this breed, but get sooo many different views.
We are feeding her about 5 -7 cups of dry dog food a day in 4 different feeding times....is this what we should be doing? This just seems like an awful lot of food. Thanks for your help!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

How much you have to feed of the food will depend on the food and the quality. As long as the puppy isn't chunky or too thin then I would say you are doing fine but if you are worried check with your vet at her next appt. or even just take her in for a weigh in (great for just getting them used to going in with nothing bad happening) and see what she is at.

For the first while (at least until they are done growing) it will seem like you are feeding horses rather then dogs but once they have matured you can cut back and keep them on a more regulated amount to keep them lean to keep those joints healthy.

good luck with your puppy and we would love to see some pics of her.

:welcome: We would love to see some pic! It sounds about right feeding wise, as long as she is a healthy body weight and your feeding her good food.

Hi!!! welcome. im new too, this place is great. lots of friendly people and very cool dogs too.

when yogi was a pup I fed him 3 times a day, but i am sure 4 times is fine - they love eating haha. if you get a good brand of food they usually have a chart on the back for amounts per weight but what the amount you are feeding seems about perfect for that size and age.

Thanks everyone!! I love this site...it is going to be very helpful. We are feeding her Eukanuba. Not exactly cheap. lol Is there another brand less expensive, but healthy for her?

Ps..I tried posting pics, but it says that the files are too big.

for the pics i would upload to like webshots.com or something, from there you can copy and paste a link that will just show them in forums.

yup food is expensive esp when i am giving him 2-3x more than the average or smaller sized dog. my friend has two dogs and they eat less food combined than my one dog. i feed Yogi blue buffalo, he likes it and has a good healthy coat too. petco does buy 10 bags get the 11th free so that helps kinda.

Science Diet is not a good food at all! There is NOTHING wholesome about it... just look at the ingredients! Like someone suggested Blue Buffalo is a great brand along with Taste of the Wild. You need a grain free food with low protien.
