the only thing bad here also. these dogs are great in weight pull competitions. seems to me a short leash pains my bad back and a little longer of a leash, he just wants to go. usually he knows where he is going and just wants to get there. walking where he doesn't know where he is going is ok.

I had that problem with my two presas too. But if you stop and make them sit every time they start going too fast, eventually they'll get bore of it and slow down(if you don't go crazy first). Mine walks a lot better now, not perfect but very good, and with age they lose the crazy drive a bit.

Thanks deb but I didn't see much about training a dog not to pull. Unless I missed it. LOL
Ok, this is what I did with Titan to make him stop pulling when I got him at 2 1/2 years of age.

When he started to pull, I would turn around and walk the other way. This process can be quiet frustrating for you but be aware that if the pup feels your frustration, he will shut down and stop listening. I learned this the hard way. It took us about 45 minutes to an hour to walk 1/8 of a mile. :( Let's just say, I was beyond frustrated.

I continued to do the turn around technique and it took about a month of consistent training for him to stop pulling.. I brought treats when he did what I wanted him to do, i.e. stop, sit, wait and then walk again.

Your pup is young, so he should hopefully learn a lot quicker than Titan. :)

That's about the only thing I've heard of as well deb. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing some cool trick or something. LOL. I understand Goose is still very young and I may be asking too much from him but I want to make sure I do things right with him.

Goose is not too young to learn the way you want things done. Hang in there! Remember consistency in training with motivational treats and LOTS of patience.

i recently purchased the bergan ez steps stretch leash and it is a arm, neck and back saver. it seems like it is easier on the dog also. the length is perfect also with a cushioned handle. he doesn't pull as often either.
