Wayward dog

Hello,
I am new to the forum but not new to mastiffs. Our mastiff, Kota, is 8 years old and weighs 220 pounds. The reason for signing on to this forum is Kota is now having problems getting up off the floor and is walking with difficulty. Our vet has him on prednisone and Kota is having some side affects. He has twice recently had foliculitis and has diarrhea. Our vet says that this symptoms are not caused by the prednisone. So I thought I would ask a mastiff forum if any other dogs have had these symptoms caused by the use of prednisone.
I will also post this on the medical side of this forum. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.
