I'm not sure either but from the age and sound of it maybe he is eating poop? If that's the case it can be a normal thing for puppies and they usually grow out of it, the only way to stop it while he has interest is to deny access. Pick his up right away and keep him leashed and away from others when walking. I believe I read that puppies can pick up the habit from their mothers since when they are tiny they clean the puppies including any waste.

I've heard of mastiffs eating rocks when they have a deficiency could be the same with cloth, but more sounds like a puppy that just found something he likes to chew, mine liked to eat shoes at that age, I just had to be quick to punish her when she did, it took months but now her bed is next to all our shoes and she sniffs but hasn't put one in her mouth for a few months

At that age he is still teething and the fabric feels good on his gums, try giving him so thing else to chew on like nylabones ,frozen washcloths are good too as long as he is just chewing and not actually eating them.is he getting enough exercise? He can be exercised 5 minutes for every month at a time with rest in between.A bored dog will also chew.

Chewing anything in sight is pretty much a natural puppy behavior. You just have to supervise 100%, and make sure he has LOTS of good things to chew on.

When he grabs a bad item, say "no" firmly, then put one of the good items in front of him, and make it dance, so he grabs the good item - then "YES!" and lots of praise!!
Repeat as often as needed... he'll start to learn what is his to chew, and what is off limits, but it takes a lot of time and repetitions.

Our EM chewed through many of her own beds - normally due to boredom when she was locked in her crate during the day. She's since out-grown that activity, but it took quite a while. :)

My DDB ate Panties and socks. This can be a dangerous thing for any dog. Fabric socks underwear any of that can cause bowel obstructions. i spent thousands of dollars in a late night vet visit due to sock eating. I wuld try some aversion therapy with him. first off take the fabric and roll it in hot sauce and cayan pepper. Leave the fabric out for him even offer it to him. For me it cured his interest in eating under garments. Just be sure you are watching him some dogs will swallow re guardless of the taste.

mine is not 3 months yet and he wants to sink his puppy teeth into absolutely everything that his mouth can touch: grass, leaves, flowers, trees and stones!, or the pavement itself, carpets, furniture, his crate bars, clothes, paper, toilet paper, walls, the wooden floor, curtains and the list can go on. Fortunately he responds to "DROP" - he would eventually let go. We just don't let him unsupervised AT ALL, and we do our best to exercise him with proper toys.
