Presa/large breed trainers in Kansas/Missouri

Just wondering if anybody knew of good trainers in Kansas or Missouri. I live in Kansas City and want to get my presa pup and I into some basic obedience training. Ive called all the breeders in my area and the have recommended Mo from Mokan Kennels. Does anyone else have any input?

I would contact Mokan Kennels and ask them for a local trainer for your mastiff. There a few knowledgeable members about trainers in diff parts of the country. They should pipe in today. If not, keep bumping it up to the front of the line so they see the post.

Mo is in Topeka which is about an hour from me. It prob wouldnt be a big deal to go out there once a week, my buddy runs a vet there anyways, which is where I'm taking my pup anyways. I have read a few bad/sketchy reviews about his operation though so I am trying to get some other opinions. Im really not planning on making him an official working dog, just a great family dog and home/shop burglar deterant. Maybe do some weightpulling or coursing with him.

Cool, I live down in Overland Park. I got him from a gal in Independence who shows her dogs and only has a litter every 3 or so years to raise a new show pup. Just happened to run across her name in a classified. Couldn't be happier. She still has a female and a male (who I think was the pick of the litter and the guy who got him decided he couldnt keep him) available......I was talking to a guy at the dog park yesterday and he said he saw a big group of mastiffs out at the Shawnee dog park once. Is there a large breed/molosser club around town where people all bring out their beasts?

I'm north of Kansas City in St Joe and still haven't found the right trainer. Let me know if you find a good one. I like training myself but it would be helpful to have some experience behind me. We got our boy in Independence too. Pretty much the same situation male and female older working dogs, they wanted an heir and tada Hank is born.

Not that I'm aware of.....but my boy isn't very social, so I don't really look for meet-up groups - though it would probably be a lot of fun!

I'm northwest of KC in Leavenworth/Lansing.

I haven't found any large breed clubs yet. I looked because the boy needs more socialization but came up empty. Let us know if you stumble upon anything maybe we should put one together. Mastiffs play in their own way and Hank scares people who have never heard a real battle cry during play.

haha, I totally feel ya on that one. It was a couple of anonymous online reviews, probably just some pissed of yuppies. Every person I have spoke to in the area have said Mo is the guy to go to. I left him a voicemail so hopefully he will get back to me and give me some more information. Manners are definitely top on my list. Crazy how smart these guys are though, it like hes been pre-programmed with everything I'm teaching him.

I know Topeka is a bit of a stretch for you probably but it seems like Mo is the guy to go to for Presas anyways, I dont know personally but I would imagine presas and corso are pretty similar behaviorally. It does appear he trains everything though. Yeah definitely let us know. I guess Mo doesnt like to check his voicemails, haha. He never returned my message, and I havent got a chance to try him again. I get off work early tomorrow so I will try and shout at him again.

Kentopp, I train dogs and I also don't always get back to people fast but I do get back with them. Just be patient and always give another call
