P's in Heat!

I'm trying not to panic and I'm thankful that Oliver only tries humping her head, but I'm almost positive she's in heat. Her lady bits are larger and Oliver won't leave her alone.

She isn't acting much differently, but I am. :D

Congrats your baby is a woman!!

Time to have "the talk" with her. :)

Mystic was very clean when she got hers. I literally only had to wipe the floor maybe three times.

Well it should be roughly 1 week bleeding, one week off (when she is fertile), then a week bleeding again. Now I say roughly because the time frame of each varies. However Zoe bled 20 days straight... Never knew her phases and it was only messy because we have white carpet and little drips were everywhere.

Thalia went into heat every 6 months, but it could be different for giant breeds?

Yeah I would keep Oliver away for 3-4 weeks. Once her bleeding stops around the 21 day mark her lady bits will start shrinking. I would crate & rotate if I had an intact male and likely use diapers as a barrier but for some they will rip them right off. Zoe's personality didn't change, she slept more & liked when you would lay with her but that's all. She ate/drank/pottied the same. We still did walks around our block but at off hours. We never had any visitors. It isn't bad but I certainly haven't had a male in house...luckily if Oliver only humps her head, you will be okay ;)

He isn't quite sure what to do with her but he usually only goes for the head. lol Her personality hasn't changed at all, so far and we've already started the crate and rotate thing. Thanks for the help. :)

Do you have panties for her? I had washable ones for Thalia. She was not happy about wearing them during her first heat cycle, but I stayed on top of her the first day wearing them and each time she tried to remove them I gave her my biggest, meanest "NO!" It scared her into keeping them on and we never had any further issues. Thalia was a heavy bleeder and there was blood everywhere! She would come out of her crate and before I could put her panties on, she would shake and send blood flying up the walls. It was gross.

Does she try to clean up after herself? Thalia licked herself a lot and also licked up the drops when she noticed them on the floor. Sounds gross, I know, but she was pretty clean about it all.
