A number of people on this forum feed raw, including me.

Commercial dog foods have been linked to a number of ailments in dogs, including cancer.

A lot of low-grade commercial dog foods are filled with corn and grains, which dogs do not need and which a lot of dogs are allergic to.

DMikeM actually posted an article on the corn that is in dog food and it was a really informative read.

Corn or grain in dog foods is wosre than I though - Mastiff Forum

2 of my dogs have bad reactions to chicken and grains. In addition to that, even high quality dog food was giving my APBT yeast infections in her ears and paws.

Raw just works for us. We can choose exactly what our dogs get fed. We can choose higher quality meats that are fit for human consumption. All the meat we get is non-medicated, which is a bonus for us.

I used to have an aversion to touching raw meat, but I soon got over that.

I aim for the 80% muscle meat, 10% organ and 10% bone ration, although it's not always perfect. My two that have chicken allergies typically get either pork or turkey with beef organs. Pork neck is a favourite in my household and when it comes to turkey they usually get either turkey wing or turkey drumsticks or necks.

Thalia, doesn't have chicken allergies so she gets chicken frames, wings, drumsticks, necks, gizzards. She also gets turkey and pork. She will eat chicken or beef organs.

From time to time, they get a rabbit feast when Thalia catches one in the yard.

Some people add in vegetables to their dog's food. I don't, but they all love carrots so I will sometimes use little carrot pieces for training.

Excellent post QY10!

We feed raw. If you have a dog that has allergies and/or skin issues raw is the best way to go.

Home prepared dog food gives you complete control over all the ingredients.
We follow the "Whole Prey Model Raw" (PMR) diet - and it is super easy! Minimal planning, weighing and chopping.

And, my big hope: The fewer preservatives and crazy chemicals in the diet, the more the immune system can focus on other things (like rogue cancer cells, inflammation, allergies, etc.)

It does take a little more time and freezer space than buying a bag and scooping it into the dish. But I think it's worth it.

Hello all Mastiff type lovers, I have fed raw always to all my 3 dogs. No a single issue with allergies, skin conditions, etc. I have a one Press Canario, and two Rotti/Dogo Argentina mixed females. Yes 3 girls plus PresaMama. One SINGLE male home! Anyhow, question here is what is PMR?Only asking because I do spent lots of time in the AM exercising all my girls, 2 hours after work walking, playing, they helping Presided around the house, etc. I would like to know how to cut back or prepare their food in a more time efficient way. I do cut the chicken with a butchers knife every day and it does take around 40 minutes to get ALL the ladies fed. Thanks in advance and sorry for the lengthy post. Just wanted to give a little background since it is my 1st post here.
