Raw feeding

Pork neck bones might be too bony to start with. Remember, it's 80% meat, 10% bone, 10% organ meat. Whole cornish hen will work but since he's new to the raw diet, I would add cornish hens after a couple of weeks.

Yes to chicken thighs. With the pork county style ribs, check the bones to be sure they are not burned from the blade. If they are burned, the bones are cooked which are not good for the pup to eat. Also check to be sure the bones are not cut too small. The bones should be at least 3-4 inches long. The same with the beef cross cut shank, check the bone. Titan loves beef cross cut shank!

Any time my dogs get soft or runny stools I add extra wings or neck bones (beef, chix, pork or lamb) it tightens the stool right up. Once you get a feel for it you can tell if you are feeding right by the stool. If they are white straight out way too much bone or if the dog seems to strain and only poop out one or 2 round balls at a time still too much bone. Cannon butt too much organ or sodium or an alergy. Just soft or runny add some bone.

It looks ok except for beef shank, that seems a little high. I'm not sure about chicken thighs because I do not buy those.

Check all the sale papers for meat pricing. Check local meat markets and ethnic markets like Asian markets usually have great prices on meat. I used to shop at a local Asian market but I found better prices at Fiesta Mart and Savers. I found that WalMart doesn't usually have meat sales but they will price match.

Go easy on fresh garlic, it's poison to a dog's system. It can cause kidney failure. I would recommend using garlic powder and use a little sprinkle added to the food. I sprinkle very little garlic on Titan's food.

Even though he's had organ meat before, it's a whole new story on raw. Hold off on organ meat for 2-3 weeks after starting raw and go easy on the introduction.

Remember raw is 80% meat, 10% bone content and 10% organ meat.

Dried garlic dose not have any benefits. Fresh garlic is the one that dose. And it would take like 40 cloves to be toxic, he only gets half of one a day. At least from my understanding. Onions are deadly though!

I tried fresh garlic and Titan would not eat it. He spit it out. :( I love fresh garlic! I stand corrected on the fresh garlic.

Give me a moment, and I'll edit this post with te link thy has the benefits of garlic. I chop it up finely about 10 min after I crush it, and mix it in his food. And is there a way to do away with the captica? -_-

I'm splitting thermals in half, feeding him twice about 1.5 lbs. he swallowed a bone I thought he couldn't. Bad puppy! He's still trying to eat kibble, he thinks he's hungry.
