Raw food diet

So I'm new I have an 11 month old English mastiff, we started the raw food diet yesterday and I am wondering if his poop should be mustard yellow and kinda foamy white? He seems to be doing well otherwise aside from not drinking as much as he use to is that normal as well. Thanks for any advice or info.

What are you feeding? Are you feeding bone? Less water intake is very normal, meat is about 80% water. It is normal to see different kinds of poop. In the beginning their stomach acids are changing to accommodate the new diet.

What are you feeding him? A lot of raw feeders on here, hopefully our experiences will help you like it helped us.

*do not read If you are enjoying breakfast.*

yellow and foamy is usually detox period. I wouldn't worry unless it has blood in it. It may also be mucousy at first. And as AB said, decrease water is normal due to the water content in meat.

I'm feeding him chicken thighs and some hearts and liver as snacks, no blood in the stool. I also heard that canned pumpkin will help with the cannon butt?

Thanks for the advice.

You might stop the liver for a couple of weeks it can contribute to cannon butt. Canned pumpkin never worked for us but a lot of people use it. Make sure it is 100% pumpkin and not the pie filling kind. Keeping his meals very bony helps in the beginning too.

I agree with angelbears. I fed Titan chicken liver after a couple of weeks of raw and he had cannon butt. I found out that's too soon. Titan ate chicken leg quarters the first couple of months on raw and then I reintroduced liver and other meats.
