Reaction to medication

Sasha for the past 2 days did not finish her meals at once so I decided to take a trip to the vet, she had an appointment for anti rabis shot and also a deworm and something to help with her appetite, before we got home I noticed se has reacted to something again this is not the first time although I called the vet to inform him of the swelling on her face and he told me it will clear out soon. I just want to knw if this is a good response from the vet and if anybody else have this same med reaction.

I'm no vet but it's my opinion that you need to get benadryl into your dog immediately and take her to a different clinic NOW. That's not a mild reaction. Please don't wait. If you aren't home yet I would find the nearest vet and take her in. Please let us know how she's doing.

I agree with Boxergirl! Especially that quickly after shots...she needs to be seen. Find a different vet!

Your vet's response is alarming and unacceptable. Might want to look into a different vet that actually cares. I mean, look at her eyes! She must be uncomfortable.

I really hope we get an update soon. Call me a weirdo, but I worry about the dogs on here. I know I'm not the only one. Sasha has been on my mind since yesterday. I hope she's doing better today.

That this is not the first time is very troubling. Many times allergic reactions just get worse and worse after each exposure... that the vet was not concerned is not good - especially if you had told him about the first time this happened (and even if you hadn't). :(

Hope the pup is feeling better today!!

One of my dogs reacts to shots. It looks just like what Sasha went through. If this happened after any vaccines were give both times, I would suspect that was the cause. Severe reactions can be life threatening. I give my boy benadryl before any appointment where he will receive vaccines and the vet also gives an antihistamine shot. I'm really glad to hear she's doing better. Thanks for letting us know.

I saw this post yesterday and was checking back for an update. Like Boxergirl I also worry about the dogs on here too. I'm so happy to hear she is doing better today, but it is concerning what would make her react like that!

Could be the rabies shot. My parents lab reacts like that but now the vet keeps her to pre-medicate and they watch her "post procedure" for an hour. Find a vet that will take precautions. Glad to hear she's doing better!
