Before he takes his afternoon nap (4 to 5 hours) he goes around to all the other dogs and takes their chew toys piles them up then sleep by them, they all come back one by one and take them back while he sleeps but its just funny he does the same thing everyday

Lol! That's cute! I thought you meant he sleeps on top of them! My little dog tries to work her way into bringing several rawhides & toys to bed. They're like her security blanket.

the funniest thing is watching him steal the baby's chew toy, she will fall asleep holding onto it and he will take it away real gently, i will try to film it if i get a chance

he is definitely smarter than he lets on

That's so funny! I wonder if it's an innate behaviour, as our wee pup does something similar...she gathers up all the toys and puts them in our older dog's bed...then seems surprised that she can't fit in as well. Watching her try to accomplish it is like having our own private showing of Cirque du Soleil! Summersaults, flips, tumbles, spin...chase escaped toys...repeat!

The only one that covets toys around here is Ally, the old rescue. She will pick a toy for the day....she goes through the toy box, you see her thought process.."This one? No, too hard.." put it to the side of the box. "This one? No; too smelly.." put it to the side of the box, this goes on for awhile until she finds just the right one! Then she takes it to her special spot in the house, tries to bury it (the floor is a plank floor; she's tearing it up but we just never seem to catch her at it), then noses it into the corner & lays down. Woe be unto any other dog that tries to get that toy. The next day the process starts all over again. Never the same toy twice.

That's cute! Camo goes through the toy box to pick one out,,just wish he'd learn to pick all the toys up and put them back!

I'm with you. Sunny can empty a toy box in a day, because he HAS to have a toy when someone comes in the door. If there's a lot of coming & going, he just runs to get a new toy. I picked up 9 toys from the kitchen the other day.

lol... this probably explains Maggie's fascination with "burying" all her bones around (in the couch, under the blankets, etc). She spends a really long time making sure they are hidden "just so".

This is my analysis but this is not based in anything solid, I just made this up haha

As a dog, he might feel that he's compelled to protect the things in his territory, and he probably knows that he'll be completely out when he's sleeping. So he might want to secure the things while he's out by gathering them close to him.

Dogs having different personalities is very fascinating! :)

We fostered a 2 year old male Neo and he would try to bury all the chew toys in a corner (all on tile or hardwood). He ended up scraping all the skin off his nose and left me with bloody baseboards everywhere. We couldn't get him to stop, finally just didn't give him chewies anymore. He also stole all the other dogs toys and piled them on the Kuranda bed and wouldn't let the other dogs near. Unfortunately, we had to rehome him as he developed a dislike for my 17 year old son. After being fine and loving on Lon for months one day he decided to attack him. Viciously I might add. After that, Lonnie couldn't come in the house or out of his room if we didn't have Smokey on a leash because he would go all Cujo on him. In all other ways this was the most loving dog. I was heartbroken, couldn't understand what happened as Lon had been nothing but loving. He did maintain an Alpha position with the dog tho. Did obedience etc. We really wanted to be the forever home for this dog. But, our son is obviously our first priority. Sorry for the change in topic. Still hurting from the loss.

A Goober she is! That way she can make sure they are all in her line of vision you see, so if Bear tries to walk past and even look at one she can growl appropriately. Geesh Deb don't ya know anything? LOL
