I read that about the crate, and that is how I will try and handle it. Stella sounds very much like my dog from what Jessica describes. But I would rather that than a timid temperament and one that is not social at all. I was told I will always have to work on his excitement.

I plan on socializing right away - did you do so before 16 weeks? My hope is to bring him right to Home Depot/Lowes, Shoprite, etc. The Garden State Plaza is known to have a few people so I might bring him there too. I plan on socialization classes right away, too. Then hopefully basic obedience. Is Stella easily trainable?

You may want to reconsider the soft crate if you plan on leaving the pup in the crate while you are at work. The pup will eventually get bored and it's natural to chew. My girl has a metal crate...your typical crate sold at PetSmart. I also had a soft crate for travel, but she mananged to flip the crate over while she was in it....lol. Soft crates tend not to be as sturdy in my opinion.

Thanks for the input - I actually have both. I'd love to introduce her to both early as I will be traveling some with the dog. But I certainly will not leave the dog in the soft krate for extended periods of time until he is through with the chewing stage.

Yes I did socialize her before 16 weeks, just not in high traffic dog areas before all her shots. She is very easily trained and extremely smart. Im sure yours will be as well as long as you put in the effort. We started the day we brought her home, dont wait for school. As far as a crate goes, we ended up buying the biggest you can get but this one has a divider that you adjust as they grow. Good luck this weekend! Tell Jessica, Stella says hello lol

I'll just add, they like to CHEW! Remove any thing that they can reach!
Including your phone :) Provide safe toys n chews to play with!
Puppies need to get outside every 20 mins or so, avoids potty problems.
Enjoy!
