I will message Vicki and see what is happening.
Oh Thanks! I tried to hit the button for "View Site Leaders" and it doesn't work. I shouldn't bitch cause it makes me feel guilty and I don't want to put people off from using the forum. I also think though that if I paid for premium to help support the thing I shouldn't have to download an ad blocker. And who's the new admin? An intro would be cool.I will message Vicki and see what is happening.
Mine says it's adblock plus. It's free.ok scratch the xp/mozilla idea. ad blocker it is they make a free one for chrome?
Get used to it. :bummer:Any word? Sort of feeling a tiny bit slighted at this point. Asked for support, I gave it without question.
My ads come from TapatalkI don't understand. I'm on an old desktop with Windows XP and the latest version of Mozilla. I see no ads. None. Seems like everyone should have them. The only problems I'm having is that there are no paragraph breaks and I can no longer use the little arrows to hide the pics on the right side.
Load times are not slow due to the addition of ads but because of the script I had to write in order to correct the misalignment of the dogs of the month add on. I added the script on the same day that I embedded the ads. That may be why the perception is that the ads are causing slow load times. The ads are being served by Google and the page does not wait on the ads to load. Sorry folks, what you see here is a result of the forum being broken. We have plans to fix it by transitioning away from this broken platform but that takes money and that's the reason for the ads. My name is Tony and I am here at Vicki's invitation. I know that my arrival was low key but given that when I came on board I didn't have much time to move the forum to it's new server and deal with the immediate problems that created, I didn't think the time was right for a big intro so that's why we did a small blurb instead. I do want to say now that I do look forward to meeting and interacting with everyone on on the forum in the weeks and months ahead. This is just in my unprofessional opinion, and I'm assuming the load times accompanied the ads. Would it not be better to provide a better user experience and promote membership, than to lessen the user experience and possibly drive otherwise potential premium members from doing so by adding ads that most likely are not being clicked by the regulars anyways? Also Who is deputy dog? Why no itro? Or did I miss it??
We appreciate all of our members. We know many of you have been here a very long time. We are cognizant of the member frustration with having to navigate a broken forum. I ask for your patience. Mastiff Forum will be the first of the 3 forums we moved to be migrated to a new platform. In part because it is the most broken. This work will begin soon but it will take time.Any word? Sort of feeling a tiny bit slighted at this point. Asked for support, I gave it without question.
Right now the ads cannot differentiate between premium and regular members. Once we migrate we will buy a plugin that will be able to do that. Spending money here to fix the broken plugin that may not work anyway because the forum software is jacked is counterintuitive. Hang in there. A year from now no one will remember these dark days!Cool! Hi Tony! Thanks for helping Vicki fix our forum!! As a premium user, is it intended I also see the ads? That's kinda what I paid for, an ad free experience. It's been running better since, so after that happened I sort of figured it wasn't the ads. Also now that I found out how to use smilies it's been a great distraction for me from the ads lol.
Would it be easier to start a new forum? What would happen to this one if you did?Right now the ads cannot differentiate between premium and regular members. We can transition with all member credentials and posts intact. That is much better than starting from scratch. Albums may not make it. We'll see.Would it be easier to start a new forum? What would happen to this one if you did?
It's slow, not dial up slow though.Just me or is the forum slow today?? Tried clearing cache, cookies etc.
