Thane:
I think we have a toy Mastiff on our hands... perhaps my wife will carry him in her purse? :D

Week 8 23 Lbs.
Week 9 27 Lbs.
Week 11 34.5 Lbs
Week 12. 38.5 Lbs 19" at the withers

Don't know why I'm so proud of his growth. It's not like I have a lot to do with it myself... Seems like he has doubled in size if not weight in 4 weeks.

Max was 9 pounds at 8 weeks!
He's 175 and at last measure 28.5 at the withers.
Thane will grow~ slow and steady is best.

:DToy mastiff! That's Hilarious - your wife is going to need a LARGE purse on wheels, not even a full size suitcase will work shortly! Angus was 9 lbs at 8 weeks too. Now at 10 months he's a leggy lean monster at 125 lbs and 31 inches at the withers. They do seem to grow from nap to nap at that point. One hour they fit under the coffee table and the next their back is the same height!

Geez... Denna did the opposite... she was 18lbs at 8 weeks, and basically stopped at 150lbs when she hit 2 years... if anything, we've trimmed her down a few pounds over the last year. She went up to 155, but it was mostly padding - a few months ago we were back at 149lbs. She just turned 3 yrs last month.

We expected a little more, considering her mom was 185 at 3 yrs, and her dad was 200 lbs at 2 yrs. But, if she was any heavier I don't think my ribs could take it (I'm her favorite pillow... and her head is HEAVY!).

Mastiff are funny weight wise.
Have a few on here that there pups where 20lbs or slightly under at 8 weeks and now are 220+ think the one is 245+.
Few others have had 25 to 30lb pups at 8 weeks that are now 150ish.

Mouse was 20lbs at 8 weeks and has been floating between 160 and 180 from 15 to 17 months.
He ate 4 months worth of heartworm pills 2 days after getting his monthly dose, and was quite sick for a week or so, in which time he dropped 15 to 20lbs. Think he's back around 175 but have not weighed him in the last month or so, since it happend.

Well, had Thane at the vet yesterday. He is 60 Lbs, @ 1 week shy of 4 months. He should be right around 65 Lbs at 4 months. He has grown like a dandy lion since we got him 8 weeks ago. Is the weight gain usually linear the first year? Just wondering g if he will slow down or speed up as he grows during the first 12 months.

Depends on the dog. Some stay steady while others slow down. Kryten remained fairly steady until 16 months when his surgery messed up his growth cycle.

So great to hear Thane is doing well! Oscar gained about 5 lbs per week until about 140-150 ish and has gained just a couple a week since then. He turned a year a week ago and on Monday was 174lbs.

Happy belated birthday to Oscar! Hope your boy continues to do well. Thane's personalty is taking center stage, less biting (puppy nipping) and more leaning, sitting on our feet, bringing toy after toy for us to play with him. He is both mellowing and becoming more intentionally affectionate. Love this dog!! He has lost most his puppy teeth, and is a little off, we believe do to sore gums. just has his lower canines left to exchange for adult teeth, I think. All told, a great family member. :p

Wow...my girls turned 20 weeks last thursday and they are 38 and 47 pounds respectively. They are gaining about 3-5 a week but started off small. I must have the mini-mastiff's on my hands.

On a side note, one has had some loose stools so I'm going to put them back on the probiotic and reduce the amount of food they get...I think my hubby is over feeding them and hopefully that will do the trick. He let them out this am before I got up so I'm not sure which one, but I think it's probably Sage. She also has one more round of Giardia meds to take for the next 5 days, but this is a different med from the last one.
