Thinking about a rescue... Boerboel inparticular

thinking of doing a rescue on a Mastiff. The Boerboel after some general research on the web is what we are considering. I do want some input from Mastiff owners and Boerboel owners in particular.

We have a cat. We have a small child, he will be 3 yrs old in Oct. So therefore we need a good dog all around and I dont want to worry about the cat or my son.

We have a good size yard, not fenced in, but it is the last house on a dead end and surrounded by woods. The dog would never be left out alone. We also have a good size house.

Any input, advise, direction would be greatly appreciated.

Doing a rescue can be a great thing, especially when you get a mature dog because you know its temperament. I am sure Boerboel people will chime in with there personal experience.

I know of several Boerboels that are currently available for adoption and need good homes. I am not a breeder, but I own two Boerboels and I try to help out with rescue when I can. Boerboels are great dogs in the right situation, but they are not for everyone. I can answer specific questions about Boerboels, so please feel free to ask. Here are links to some of the Boerboels available for adoption:

Nandi is a 6-year-old brindle female currently located in Virginia. Nandi is still living with her original owners, but they are looking to re-home her:

Bronx is a 1-1/2 year old male brindle located in Southern Maryland:

This is a PhotoShow of Bronx. He also looks like a nice dog with a good temperament:

This last girl, Hope, is also in the Northern Virginia area. Hope is a 1-1/2 year old who was surrendered as part of a cruelty case. Never socialized, Hope came into foster care afraid of EVERYTHING. In the last five months, Hope has made huge strides. She is starting to enjoy life and show her goofy self. Hope still has a long way to go to being a "real dog," but she is well on her way. All she needs is the "right" home. For her, that means patient and experienced parents, canine sibling(s), and a fenced yard.

If anyone is interested in any of the above dogs, I can put you in touch with the appropriate parties who can give you more information. Thanks for looking!
