What kind of treats do most of you use for your puppies? I'm assuming like dry food some of the treats are bad for the pup too! Thanks in advance!

Like with food, watch your ingredients, watch your calorie intake. As a general rule the only treats I buy are Zukes brand Mini's for training treats, and I make most of the rest, usually jerky of some kind in the dehydrator. That way I KNOW whats in it and where it came from no questions.

Home made, oven baked, lambs liver in the smallest qty as a super reward for excellent hard concentration work. For daily, small rewards bits of chicken or cheese. Watch the intake though. Peanut butter in a Kong for getting and keeping attention is excellent as well.

Titan likes baked and then frozen livers, chicken feet and Newman's grain-free treats. He especially likes the peanut butter treats and lamb treats made by Newman's. His newest treat is Milo's Kitchen chicken treats. He loves Milo's Kitchen!

Jake loves his vegetables, carrots, celery, squash, potato's, red and green peppers, so those are what he gets for most of his treats. We have had to fence off all of our gardens otherwise he would have eaten his way through it all.

Fyi, milo's kitchen is largely made in China unless they've recently changed something, and is one of three brands listed to be a major culprit on this whole chinese chicken jerky mess.

Cut frozen green beans, baby carrots, slices of banana, ice cubes, and a kong with peanut butter in it will just about get him to make me dinner LOL

My guy prefers soft treats so I use the Wellness jerky treats or the Zukes minis...I try to stick to fish flavors, but do mix things up sometimes.

I occasionally freeze yogurt into them, dogs love it, but neither of mine has milk issues either so know your dogs first.

I've heard of people putting cream cheese in the kongs, is that safe?
I seal my kong with cream cheese (low fat) or use it as a topper but never completely fill it with cc. Usual kong recipe in my house is grated carrot on the bottom, a layer of mixed kibble and meat, a dog cookie or two and then sealed with either peanut butter or cream cheese. YUM!!!

Ruth what flavor yogurt? Do you use the large kongs (the black ones) when you do this?

I would assume a yogurt with no flavor? I vaguely remember someone telling me it was best to use one that didn't have any flavor added to it. However I could be wrong! When Duchess was smaller I would take a small kong & fill it with canned dog food & freeze it. She loved that. Now that she's bigger she doesn't know what to do with the big kong. We have the black one & I put some peanut butter in it the other day & she would lick it then stand up & paw at it. I guess she couldn't figure out how it worked.
