I went to see Tyson today and he did eat some treats. I took one of my old shirts for him to lay on and have my scent with him.
I got more bad news. His leg looks terrible. And he has a bacterial infection that could turn into flesh eating disease. The odds are high that this could happen. That would mean a complete leg amputation up to the shoulder. I don't even want to think about that. This has already cost 4,000 dollars. And an amputation with long term wound care is in the neighborhood of 3,000 more. I just don't have that kind of money. I love my dog, he is the best dog I have ever had. Losing a back leg on a small dog is manageable. But a front leg supports most of the weight and the vet said he would have early onset osteoarthritis. But like I said I don't want to think about that. I will get an update on him in the morning. Thank you all for the prayers and support.
I would like to ease your mind some as I had a male pup returned to me, well the guy was going to put him down and I told him not to that I would take him back and give him the sister I still had, they were about a year old at the time of the males accident. The male had been tethered in the back of his truck when the strap broke and the dog went over the side and bounced on his shoulder, severing a major nerve. The guy was very devastated as he loved his boy, the day it happened he had just been to my house for a visit but I wasn't home and it happened on his way back to his house.
And I would like to say it took him 3 months to start walking or sitting up for that matter but after that there was no stopping him. He turned into an amazing herding dog on my farm I had, believe it or not he was faster then the 4 legged herders I had, all filas they helped me move the hogs from pasture to barn daily. So if push comes to shove and he has to have an amputation , have no fear of him being unable to get around normally on 3 legs.
