Update on Guinness's allergies

So it's been about two weeks since I posted on Guinness's allergies. I started by eliminating eggs and dairy from his raw diet and have noticed a huge improvement. He still licks his paws a little and shakes his ears but the gnawing on the paws and face itching are almost completely gone! Going to give it a few more weeks and hopefully the mystery has been solved. Thanks everyone for all the helpful information.

Just curious- what type of dairy were you feeding him?

Glad to know he's improving. :)

Interesting that dairy could cause such problems.....
Great name for your pup by the way, I also have a Guinness :)

pstoz... I'm thinking it is the dairy, after doing some research I found out that dairy builds up in their system and allergy symptoms do not show themselves right away. I also stopped giving him egg. Some dogs may be allergic to eggs and not chicken. Since he is on a raw diet, mostly chicken based, I did not want to take him off of it.

I saw that you recently got your baby, congrats. We came up with the name before we picked him out. It just so happened he was brindle like a Black and Tan. I hardly ever call him by his name though unless I'm being firm with him. Other than that we call him Guinn or Pigs (like guineypig). He grunts a lot!

Thanks very much. We picked his name after the beer (my favorite) as the brindle works perfectly. Looking at pics of your Guinness and he is a cutie :) Hopefully you have the allergies licked. Cheers

pstoz... I thought this picture of my Guinness as a pup kinda looks like yours with the tilted head expression.
