What are you feeding your fila? Neep poop help.

Hello,

Otis is now just shy of 10 months, and weighted 145 lbs a week ago. He is really healthy and happy, but his poop has never been normal.

We feed him Taste of The Wild (grain free) since he was a puppy.

His poop has always been "pudding" consistency, and lately sometimes it's softer like a "chocolate milk shake". Sorry if I'm ruining pudding and chocolate shakes for anyone.

We have recently switched him to the adult formula, as he sort of lost interest in food in the past month or so. He used to jump and party hard as I filled his bowl, and now he just kinda ponders before he eats. His poop as also off on the adult formula.

We are thinking of switching his food brand all around, but I'm not sure what else is good out there. So what do you guys food your young fila?

Thanks

We feed raw. Have you had Otis tested for parasites? Especially, Giardia. You are not going to see it in his poop and there are a lot of false negatives.

It could be the TOTW brand that causes him to have poop issues. It may be time to try another brand of food. Remember to do a slow transition from the old food to the new food to prevent even more poop issues. Before switching to the new food, you could reset his system by feeding him boiled white rice with boiled hamburger, turkey or chicken with some pumpkin (not the pie filling) for 4-5 days before trying the new food.

Also... could be too much food... and the extra just gets sent out in a hurry. But, if he wasn't as excited about the adult food, I would have thought him eating less of that would have helped the poop issue...

Be sure to do any transitions between foods really slow (unless you decide to go raw... then the advice is to switch overnight).

Which brings to my next question...for those of your who feed kibble, how much do you feed? Otis is a lean 145lbs at 10 months. He eats 8 cups a day, split in two meals(4 cups at breakfast, and 4 at dinner).
