Because I'm having a really difficult time finding one!
I've talked to three now, and I don't understand why dog trainers who specifically advertise themselves as working with dogs with aggression issues are so hesitant to actually work with dogs with aggression issues. I also feel like the understanding of guardian breeds simply isn't there.
I accept that Thistle will probably always have her issues, I just want to be able to manage them better. She's an excellent dog, she is so sweet with familiar people, but she is very protective. Her aggression isn't fear-based, she's a very confident lass. I've had dogs all my life, but with the exception of a twitchy, HA GSD, this is the first time I've had to deal with such a serious protective guard dog, and for her sake as well as mine, I just want to learn how to effectively handle my beautiful girl.
Right. So, back to the original question. And how did you find your trainer?
