what job does your Fila perform?

Does anyone here actually count on their Fila for protection? When we had Cyrus I know he kept our home from being broken into once for sure. I do own guns as I'm just a ol country boy, but I'm set on getting a new Fila and while he will be my baby I need him to watch my house, chickens, and wife while I'm away at work etc. I know Cyrus was mainly Do Camping lineage and have been told there's not alot of that blood left around. So can I get some examples of your dog's lineage and the work they do for you.

I believe kona has stopped at least one home invasion. Right before xmass someone banged on the front door at about 1130 at night. She hit the front window bat shit crazy(nothing is like a pissed fila show). Time I could walk the 20ft to the door they were gone. I mean gone gone. Every house on our street has at least 2.5ac and everyone is fully fenced. Who ever that was at the door was out of my property and hidden some where in under 1min. Kona cleared the yard so they were not here no more and there was no car.

This aint the kinda street you just happen to walk down. Everyone around knows we have dogs. So I dont think that would have scared a neighbor off. Hell a dog in a house dont scare off anyone that was not intending on going in that house

Our dog Cane has do Camping in his blood. He is all defensive drive, very little prey drive which most will tell you is not idea. He is very aloof and very stubborn. He doesn't play or like to be petted much. However, he is very bonded to me. Where I go, he goes. He hates people, I have never seen him back down when it comes to humans including an agitator. However, he is afraid of a backhoe. As long as no one tries to attack us on a backhoe, I think Cane will stand his ground and do anything to protect us.

Random Cane and Ziva for mastiff forum 003.jpgThis is my favorite picture of him. He is 170 to 180 lbs. Very muscular and heavy boned. Not CAFIB approved. LOL

I would say Cyrus had a little prey drive in him, he would chase squirrels, armadillos, stuff like that. It was funny, this big tough ass dog, but if you said "Cyrus there's a bug!!" He would freak out, or if I made a buzzing noise like a bee, it was hilarious. His one downfall, a beetle lol

Close combat, extreme dettereant dog is what I expect from my fila

I mean who really in the world is going to want to try a fila? And if they do, do you really think once they get bit they will fight it off and continue to give pressure?

If someone is brave enough to hear the rumble and growl of your fila, have the house our car shake with the most intimidating bark in the world, then get bit, and continue to try and press forward you don't need a dog at that point.... It's time to let loose ol Betsy.

IMO dogs and guns go hand in hand for protection. You have your long range for me it's my malinoi for dog ar for gun. Then your ohh oh for me it's my working line gsd and 9mm for gun. Then you have ol Betsy for me mossberg for gun fila for dog.

Only allowed to have guns for hunting up here and ya better have all your papers in hand or your off to jail, so the next best thing is a fila for me. I live were there are bears cougars coyotes and thieves and meth heads and i do alot of my walking at night, oh and did i mention those deer i posted a vid of are crazy, they will chase people and stomp dogs, not afraid of humans at all. I can tell whats around my place just by the reactions of the dogs, if its deer they may woof a bit and run up the mountain , not much reaction but if its a bear they are air scenting and snorting like sucking air in through their noses and blowing it out through their mouths and way more aggressive acting. And im thinking the other night we had acougar around they just stood there and air scented but did not move, just air scented looking up at the mountain side, it was strange.

Any person who wont turn and run at a fila show, is not right in the head. Kona looks like she is some kin to Kujo from the movie when she goes off. I dont see anyone in their right mind trying to take one on

Tubarao is expected to also be a detterant and if necessary protect and defend our property, us, and the house. We live on acreage and everyone on this street has 1+ acre lots. We are off the beaten path and the entire property is pipe fenced. You dont happen upon our place and if you show up you either were invited or not supposed to be here. Before we got tubarao someone broke into our shed and stole all our tools and lawn equipment. This was a major blow. It had to be someone on this street. That won't happen again

You made the right choice with a fila, you should never feel threatened in your own house, it's suppose to be your safe place.

my girls are here to be loved and the bonus is the protection they provide for my kids.
both girls love to sleep in their crates, but can open them if the need arises.Flower
has been sleeping with her door open until Sat. when she chewed the extension cord
to the dog fan! she shocked the shit out of herself and vet said she was lucky to be
here~! so, I stick with my crates.

I am sorry but i am new to the forum and to fills. We are currently looking to see if it would be the right dog for us- with that we are looking at a breeder. What do you mean by do Camping?

I'm sorry for missing this. I believe you have moved on from wanting to own a Fila but didn't want to be rude by not answering. do Camping was a kennel that was instrumental in bringing Fila's to the US. You either loved her breeding line or hated it.
