A friend of mine posted this link on her facebook page & my first immediate thought was, "is this a safer alternative to those mastiff owners with intact males that do not wish to breed instead of neutering?". I read through the article & I noticed they didn't mention any possible side effects of this injectable sterilization which concerns me & will obviously get me into researching this a little further. According to the article, in 99.6% of the cases where the injectable was given to male dogs between the ages of 3 months & 10 months, it created permanent sterilization. It has also been given to dogs outside of that age range with successful results as well. It allows the dog to remain intact, however making the testes smaller. Has anyone else heard about this or done some research on it? While I'm not entirely interested in pursuing this when I am in possession of a male dog, but it sounds like an acceptable way to start helping control the stray population worldwide?
Will have to post the link on my phone...the forum keeps freezing every time I try to post the link.
